GROUND BEEF TACOS

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (454g) Ground Beef

  • 1 pack (28g) Old El Paso™ Spicy Taco Seasoning Mix

  • Corn Tortillas

  • Grated Cheese, of choice (recommend grating fresh)

  • Pico de Gallo (see separate recipe)

  • Guacamole (see separate recipe)

  • Water, as directed on seasoning packet

Method

  1. Prepare the Toppings – Make pico de gallo and guacamole using their respective recipes. Grate the cheese and set everything aside.

  2. Cook the Beef – In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it apart as it browns. Once fully cooked, drain the fat.

  3. Add Seasoning – Add the spicy taco seasoning and water as directed on the packet. Stir and let it simmer until thickened.

  4. Toast the Tortillas – In a dry skillet, toast the corn tortillas until warm and lightly browned on both sides.

  5. Assemble the Tacos – Fill each tortilla with the seasoned beef, then top with cheese, pico de gallo, and guacamole.

Additional Notes

The taco seasoning packet worked incredibly. They really figured that out. Although, one day, it would be nice to make the seasoning from scratch, I just wanted something nice, quick, and easy.

Grate your own cheese. It’s always worth it. The taste is just so much better. If you can’t, store-bought cheese is fine—but you’ll really be missing out. As for a cheese suggestion, Monterey Jack would probably go great with a taco.

I used Hot Ones™ The Classic Hot Sauce. I love Hot Ones™ hot sauces, but a nice authentic salsa roja made from some tomatillos would go incredible on these. I’ll have a recipe for that coming soon. Again, nothing against Hot Ones™, but I would have loved to have a nice salsa roja with this—although that would’ve extended the cooking time. When I do inevitably post a salsa roja recipe, it’ll be something you can keep on hand and use for many things, so you might not have to prep it the day of—thus saving you cooking time.
