HONEY GARLIC SHRIMP
Ingredients
529 g / 1.2 lbs jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
½ cup / 170 g honey
5 tbsp / 75 ml soy sauce
1 ½ tbsp garlic, minced
¾ tsp ginger, grated
To taste red pepper flakes
½ tsp cornstarch
1 ½ tbsp neutral oil
As needed scallions, sliced (for serving)
Method
Marinate: Whisk together the honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Toss the shrimp with 5 tablespoons of this mixture and let them marinate for 15 minutes.
Prep Sauce: Stir the cornstarch into the remaining unused marinade and set it aside.
Sear: Pat the shrimp dry and discard the liquid they were marinating in. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the shrimp in a single layer for 2 minutes per side until they are browned.
Glaze: Pour the reserved cornstarch-marinade into the skillet. Cook until the sauce thickens and thoroughly coats the shrimp.
Finish: Top with sliced scallions and serve.
