HOT HONEY OLD BAY AIR FRIED WINGS
Ingredients
For the Wings
1 lb / 458 g chicken wings
1 tbsp / 15 ml coconut oil
1 tbsp / 12 g honey granules
1 tsp / 4 g brown sugar
1 tsp / 3 g Old Bay
1 tsp / 3 g smoked paprika
½ tsp / 1 g ground ancho chile
¾ tsp / 2 g cayenne pepper
½ tsp / 2 g garlic powder
½ tsp / 2 g onion powder
½ tsp / 3 g salt
½ tsp / 1 g black pepper
Method
1. Season: Coat the chicken wings with the coconut oil and all the seasoning, reserving a small portion of the seasoning blend for after cooking.
2. Air Fry: Air fry at 390°F / 200°C for 45 minutes or until the wings reach your desired internal temperature.
3. Finish: Remove from the air fryer and toss with the reserved seasoning. Serve immediately.
Additional Notes
Honey Granules & Sugar: The honey granules and brown sugar burned during the cook, which is my biggest issue with this recipe right now. My thought is to omit both from the initial rub entirely and only add them at the end when tossing — that may be the move to prevent burning while still getting that hot honey flavor. Still working on it.
Honey Granules: I got these off Amazon — I have no idea where you'd find these in a store.
Wingstop Comparison: This is my attempt at recreating the Wingstop hot honey rub, which is my personal go-to. I'm not fully there yet, but I'm getting closer. Back to the lab on this one.
