PICADILLO

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs (900g) Ground Beef

  • 1½ tbsp (24g) Adobo

  • 2 tbsp (30g) Sofrito

  • 1 tbsp (8g) Onion Powder

  • 2 tsp (1g) Dominican Oregano

  • 2 tsp (4g) Cumin

  • 2 tbsp (30ml) Soy Sauce

  • 2 tbsp (32g) Tomato Paste

  • 1 tbsp (15g) Recaito (Culantro Paste)

  • 8 cloves (24g) Garlic, minced

  • 1 Chicken Bouillon Cube

  • 1 (120g) Onion, chopped

  • 1 (120g) Bell Pepper, chopped

  • 2 (300g) Potatoes, diced

  • ½–1 cup (120–240ml) Water

Method

  1. Sauté the Aromatics – In a pan over medium heat, cook onions and garlic until fragrant. Add bell peppers, chicken bouillon, and sofrito. Stir to combine.

  2. Add the Ground Beef – Add the ground beef to the pan. Break it up and cook until browned and well incorporated.

  3. Season the Meat – Add adobo, onion powder, oregano, cumin, soy sauce, tomato paste, and recaito. Mix thoroughly.

  4. Add Potatoes & Simmer – Add diced potatoes and water. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 25 minutes.

  5. Uncover and Stir – Mix well and adjust if needed.
